Antony was the first neighbour I met when we arrived 10 years ago on Oakfield Rd. He bounded over to me and introduced himself with much vigour. He and Rosemary were a constant presence on the street. Looking over us all whilst creating magic up in their top room. We always knew the world was alright when the light was on at the crack of dawn and their daily creations had begun. Many a time when my babies were young and I was awoken by their needy cries, I would never feel alone as the light opposite would always be on. The Gordon's have obtained much, unwanted, but very much loved furniture from over the road that now is much loved on this side of the street. My children still remember with fondness the chain mail cake that Antony passed to us all to nurture and pass on to others. He had beamed when he told us he had named the cake Gertrude. Gertrude kept my kids busy for days making sure the cake was sent on another journey. It may even be going on now.... Lastly, the memory that will stick forever, is the night of the opening of the London Olympics 2012. They had invited the whole neighbourhood on to the roof of their amazing house to watch the festivities begin. My children will never forget it and either will John and I. A memory to treasure along with every other time we frequented some of the best parties I have been to. Antony never left a glass empty and generous to a fault. We will miss you Antony - Thank you for bringing us all together. Every street party going forward will always be in your honour. Love Harriet, John, Izzy, Gracie and James. xxx
